A, B, C, D...

Makayla's big girl bedroom is still in the works,
but turning out oh-so cute!

As her "crafty wannabe" mom,
I was hoping to
create some pretties
for her that were
extra special.

It all started with a scroll
down the Pinterest boards...
(but what doesn't these days?)

I definitely swooned when I saw this
wall alphabet:

I loved all the patterns
and how they coordinated
without being so matchy-matchy.

pinned...swooned...SOLD!

I made a trip to Hobby Lobby* and scooped up the letters
and set up camp on the scrapbook paper aisle for
about 30 minutes picking papers that were juuuust right.
I even laid them all out on the store floor
to see how they looked together.

{1. Yes, I am that girl...
2. The store was not close and I was not driving back...
3. A little boy walked over to see what I was doing and
shouted down the aisle to his mother that I was, "making a mess"...}

I wanted a variety of patterns that had the same colors
running through them, and nothing too childish.
I know, i know, it is going in a child's room...
but they can be pretty and classy, too, right?!?

A few evenings of spray painting, cutting and
mod podging later, and I was left with these...

still torn on my favorite pattern

I'm muy sorry for the poor photo skills.
Tried as I did, I could not get a full picture
of the letters that did justice to either the
colors or patterns.

Let's remedy that...
and dive into some close-ups, shall we?

a "just finished" photo in all it's instagrammy glory...
how cute is that polka dot G?

bird, butterflies, sheet music

that navy N is vying for favorite

me thinks: lovely

M seems to like them.
She often walks over and points to different letters.
Thankfully my little wild child leaves them,
well enough, alone. I honestly didn't even think
about her possibly pulling them down until I
started to hang them up and realized how low the
"Y" and "Z" were.
They are riiiiight on her level,
so they get a lot of pointing to.

her faves...

L: the profesh, R: my copycat

...again with the poor photography comparison...

No, in all seriousness,
they were super easy and
turned out cute as a button.

You can totally use this
scrapbook paper/mod podge
method on some many things...
a giant wooden letter
a word
to cover a picture frame
the ideas are endless...
so go...
craft...

we are off to work on our A, B, C's!

*My sisters introduced me to Hobby Lobby.
Somehow I have missed this store my whole life.
Shout out to E & E!
Anyway, make sure you go online and check the HL sales.
They basically rotate sales through different departments each
week. When I went all the scrapbook paper was 50% off.
Booyah, Jim!
Also, they have a weekly 40% coupon.
Good on one full priced item each week.
Go look, print and save.
If you are going to craft, you might as well save money doing it!!!

~This post was not endorsed by Hobby Lobby in any way.
All opinions and recommendations are my own.
They just have great supplies and great deals!.~

getaway

Makayla and I took a break at the beach last week.

I think we can all admit a vacation
with children is almost more work
than being at home...
but we enjoyed ourselves...
and sitting on the beach
with a good book continues
to be one of my favorite things.

I think it is also safe to say that M had a blast!
