Makayla: 5 months

Late, late, late I am!

Just realized I didn't post a
5 month post for Makayla
(and she turns 6 months next week).
Well, she is just as sweet as ever.
Such a happy, smiley and lovey baby!
She continues to be teacher's pet in daycare
amd she loves her teacher, Mrs. Debbie.

She is super active lately,
rolling all around and wanting/trying
to sit up. If she holds onto your hands she can
pull herself up to a sit, but needs a little assist
with the sitting. She is a supported sitter, I guess.

I am guessing her weight to be around 14 pounds.
She is now the oldest in her daycare class,
but also the smallest.

I am pretty sure she is teething,
because the drooling and chewing is crazy
constant and she has been getting a little more
fussy in the evenings. I'm wondering if a little
tooth will pop through soon or not.

Her sleep has become a little more patterned
during the day. Her morning naps have become better
and then any others are hit or miss. Her night sleep is
either great or all over the place, not much in between.
She likes to go to sleep by 6:30p
and have her dreamfeed between 10 and 11 pm.
Some nights she sleeps from them until morning
(at 6:30ish)
and other nights she will wake up 3 to 5 times.
Who knows, but we just keep doing what we do
and thinking one day the better nights will start
sticking. I think the cold/runny nose season
doesn't help much.
Other than slight colds though, she has been
 a healthy little chica.

She has started responding to her name more
which is fun.

miss kayla (as her cousin Catie says)...
little love.

visit to aunt ali's

Makayla and I road-tripped
to Knoville this weekend.
It was a short trip,
but we got to spend
time with "Aunt" Ali and "Uncle" Jimmy
and had a great time.
here is miss monkey playing

she was so happy and smiley all weekend
but when picture time came around she
just seemed a little perplexed by the camera

miss priss and my bestie

I wish our trip could have lasted
a week and not just a weekend.
It was wonderful to see
my best friend, though, and
introduce my girlie goo to her.

We talked, laughed, shopped,
ate some good meals and played with
the little one. I think more time
together is the only other thing
we could have asked for.

Thanks Ali and Jimmy for
being such wonderful hosts!

We want to come visit again soon!

Miss you already!

family photos

My sweet sister-in-law organized a family photo shoot last weekend for the Colbergs.
The photographer is one of my faves and took Makayla's birth and newborn photos.
She is so kind and calm and I feel like we have a special connection with her,
since she was there the day MMC was born. We love Lora Denton :)
She is still editing the photos, but sent us a sneak peek the other day.
I can hardly wait to see the rest...

happy moo moo

Here is a face I love
lately I call her moo moo miss makayla

This is the face you get when you lean
very close to her face and make funny noises.
She looks up to the corner, and either
smiles really big or opens her mouth to laugh.
It is really cute and I have yet to capture it
in a photo, so I was thrilled when I saw Aunt Liz post
this on facebook the other day. Thanks Liz!
